Patient Spotlight – Dana Daugherty

Patient Spotlight – Dana Daugherty

By Alexis Eusterbrock

We are beyond proud of Dana Daugherty for placing second in her weight class at the USA Powerlifting Washington State Championship on October 8 th . Dana is new to competitive lifting, competing in her first competition in May 2023. She has been very successful but has also met with some physical challenges. Before her recent competition, she was struggling with right shoulder pain, right Achilles pain, and low back pain. Through five sessions of physical therapy care, she was able not only to compete, but get a new personal record in both bench press and deadlift without pain!! She had awesome highest attempts at: 259lbs for back squat, 176.4lbs for bench press, and 363.8lbs for deadlift. Dana is a great example of how physical therapists can team up with personal trainers or other coaches to help athletes excel and meet their goals. Congratulations Dana! We can’t wait to see what you do next!

A word from Dana: “I really love working with the physical therapists at Stride. They’ve helped me pinpoint and diagnosis areas that had overcompensated for other areas that needed strengthening, explained how these issues are sometimes connected to each other due to my biomechanics, and outline a customized plan to more efficiently and effectively move my body for the physical activity I’m doing in my life season to season. I was really amazed that after only a handful of sessions my pain greatly reduced (and was eliminated in one area!) so that I could compete and do my best. They overall have helped me appreciate even more so how my body can heal and what my body can do.”
